Welcome back to teaching Legal Studies in 2025!
Dear members,
I trust that you had a wonderful festive season and holiday and wish you all the very best for teaching Legal Studies and Commerce in the new year!
LSA Events and offerings for Term One 2025:
Top 20!
This is the event in which we recognise the top 20 achievers (and their teachers and families) in Legal Studies in New South Wales from 2024. The event will take place at the Sydney Masonic Centre on Tuesday February 18th at 5:30pm.
Annual State Conference
A host of guest speakers such as Gary Jubelin (Former Detective NSW Police), Lorraine Finlay (AHRC Commissioner), Wayne Gleeson (Legal Studies guru), Anne Twomey (University of Sydney Human Rights and Constitutional expert) and Professor Lyria Bennett Moses (Head of the School of Law, Society and Criminology and a Professor in the Faculty of Law and Justice at UNSW Sydney). A number of LSA committee members will also present on a range of teaching and learning strategies. The conference will be held on Thursday March 20 and Friday March 21 at Rydges World Square (note the change of venue). Book your spot today - Register
Legal Briefs
The first Legal Briefs (the LSA journal) for the new year will go out in the second week of March. It is the Law Reform edition. If you have a great lesson or series of articles that you would like to share with your Legal Studies and Commerce teacher colleagues please feel free to email me at president@lsa.net.au by the end of February. The best two contributions will receive a prize at annual state conference.
